If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind, practice your photography skills or experience Japnese culture, Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a good choice as there are so many things to see and experience. A paradise that could give you inner peace with its majestic view located in the middle of city. Lethbridge, to be exact.
The name Nikka Yuko translates to mean “Japan-Canada friendship.” (Calgary Herald)
With the pruned trees and majestic pathways, who could resist to roam around in this paradise?
According to the staff whom we met during our visit and, by the way, was very hospitable and welcoming, this Pavilion was constructed in Kyoto, Japan. Disassembled and reassembled here without using any nails or screws!
These structures doesn’t only boast its appearance. It has its own story and history.
Things to do during your stay:
1)traditional Japanese tea ceremony
2)sensu (folding fans) decorating
4)origami and ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement)
5)Winter Lights Display
Ofcourse I wouldn’t miss the photo op! 😁
We are lucky enough to experience legit origami class. Though it’s pretty much the same on what you can learn from youtube, it’s kinda fun to do and re-learn it with an actual person. By the way, I have a separate blog post on how to make a paper crane with a step by step video tutorial. Click here if you’re interested. 🙂
I recommend going during spring season as they showcase jaw dropping flower arrangements. Although, there’s not much to see during fall season. The garden is open to visitors seven days a week from Mid-May to Mid-October. I look forward for winter light display next year!
Much Love, J
