I have this thing for citylights and night escapades. I’ve always wanted to go out, roam around the city, have some “me” time and just blankly stare to night lights. It makes me feel high, makes me feel relaxed and calm.
This January, we decided to go to Calgary Zoo Lights. The event started last November 24, 2017 and ended January 6, 2018. It is usually open around 6pm to 9pm though their gate closes at 8:30pm. Adult tickets costs 15 bucks. Luckily, there was someone who left their ticket and the staff at ticketing area was kind enough and gave it to us for free! 😁
It was absolutely magical and stunning! I didn’t mind the freezing weather because I was in awe with the magical light display surrounding me. It was one of the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
What I liked is that there are multiple fire pits along the way to keep yourself warm.
We didn’t go for the animals but rather the zoo lights which is perfect for families or date night with your love ones. They offer range of scenery. The area is quite big so if you want to visit the entire zoo, come early.
It gets crowded as well. As you can see in my video, it was hard for me to take decent shots since it was jampacked.
There is this tunnel that is located beside the playground and cafe area. People are fond of walking in it. It gets really crowded during 6-8pm.
We patiently waited to have the opportunity to take some decent shots. Everything felt magical. ❤️
Ofcourse, it wouldn’t be a zoo without any animals in it. Unfortunately, we only got to see the pink flamingoes since it was freezing out there.
These animal shaped lights compensated the missing animals lol.
Overall, I would recommend going here. The place has an easy to follow lay-out so you won’t get lost. It offers wide variety of light displays. They put so much effort in doing it. It’s safe even in freezing weather. The pathways are nicely scrapped. Sidewalks are almost free of ice. Bring your family, friends and loved ones with you and enjoy this majestic view. Will definitely come back next year 😉.
*just one tip* dress for the weather 😁
